GOV. MORRISEY URGES CAUTION, REMINDS WEST VIRGINIANS TO BE VIGILANT AND PREPARE FOR EXPECTED EXTREME COLD AND WINTER WEATHER

CHARLESTON, WV – Due to the predicted extreme weather in the coming days, Governor Morrisey is urging all West Virginians to be vigilant and prepared for expected extreme cold and winter weather conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued Extreme Cold Watches and Warnings and predicts extreme weather conditions from Sunday, January 19, 2025, through Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

West Virginia is currently operating under a State of Emergency issued on January 5, 2025. The State of Emergency allows the West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD) to posture personnel and resources for quick response to any emergency that may develop.

Coordinating agencies have been placed on standby to report to the State Emergency Operations Center should the need arise.

Gov. Morrisey and the WVEMD ask all West Virginians to remain attentive to weather conditions through local media reports and follow any instructions issued by emergency officials.
