Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department – Kitty Rescue 2 on Retriever Lane

The heroes of the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department have been busy once again with another feline rescue. This call began about 11 a.m. Thursday morning when Chief Johnson received a call from a United States Postal worker who was making deliveries and heard a cat in distress. Fearing that it was around her vehicle she got out in search for it and discovered the cat quite a distance up in a tree and too fearful to come down. After checking on it again later in the day Penny’s fear for it’s safety worsened and she phoned the FireChief again requesting assistance.

Calhoun Control dispatched Station 100 for cat rescue two at around 3:05 p.m. today, February 16th, 2023. Chief Johnson and Jon “Happy” Fleagle responded to Retriever Lane. You really can’t make this stuff up. Fireman Fleagle climbed the tree and carried the cat back to the ground where Postal Worker Penny was waiting to make a special delivery of the cat to WAG volunteer Jane Carpenter.
