The Republicans of Iowa will cast the first votes in the 2024 Presidential Caucus today as the Primary Season officially begins. Although we’ll not be casting our votes in West Virginia today, voters in every State need to prepare themselves for their own decision. Former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy are still in the running as well as Asa Hutchinson.
Only registered Republicans can vote today although the numbers are in question. The GOP turnout record is 186,000, set in 2016 which is only about 25% of total registered Republicans in the state. Tonight’s forecast for frigid temperatures and snow storms could greatly effect those numbers.
The caucuses will take place in 1,657 precinct locations across all 99 counties in Iowa. Those events will be in libraries, churches and school gymnasiums.
The Democrats will not vote today but will meet to conduct party business and will mail their preferred candidate decisions in. Eight thousand (8,000) Iowa Democrat voters have requested presidential preference cards.
If the voting was to be done in your State who would be your candidate? Take the survey and let Ridgeview know. Emails are required only for the purpose of verifying one vote person and will never be shared.
