Jason Campbell of JCFilms Studios appeared at the Calhoun County Commission on Monday, December 11th, 2023 to offer the County an opportunity to have a faith and family film made about and in our community.
According to Campbell, the majority of feature films produced in West Virginia are negative. The goal of his film company is to help rewrite the narrative and eliminate unwarranted stereo-types about West Virginia. One way to do that is by making uplifting, positive and inspiring films depicting the beauty and goodness of our State.
If Calhoun chooses to participate the film will be:
- A full length narrative feature film
- A total production budget of $100K
- Distributed through JCFilms Studios
- Anticipating over 100 Volunteers from the community
- Cast leading Hollywood type firm talent
- Filmed in Calhoun County
- Filmed during the Spring of 2024.
JC Films distributes the film though the movie platforms of Amazon, Netflix, Pureflix, Hulu and Tubi. In addition, all films are represented internationally and are translated into multiple languages providing enormous exposure to the community represented.
The economic impact will last from production through the viewings of the film. JCFilms is asking for a $10,000-$20,000 grant from Calhoun County Commission to fund a feature film to be produced in Calhoun County. In 2024, JCFilms Studios will be partnering with Christian comedian Josh Novey, actors Dean Cain, Kevin Sorbo and Eddie McClintock with that mission in mind. The film will be called Missed Opportunities and will show how God uses all different types of people to advance His Kingdom and how His offer of salvation has a time limit. Production is set to start production in Bridgeport, WV in March 2024.
Another goal of JCFilms is to create more opportunity for youth. Calhoun’s young people could experience the opportunity to be involved in filmmaking.
