Jerry L. Workman, 75, of Auburn, WV; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the WV Caring Hospice Facility in Elkins, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born July 20, 1950 in Man, WV, son of the late Cum and Gladys (Bartram) Workman.
Jerry is a graduate of Man High School, class of 1971. He spent most of his working life as a coal miner, having retired in 1991. Jerry was a member of the UMWA Local 8217 and in his spare time, enjoyed hunting, fishing, working hard at anything he did, and spending time with family and friends.
On September 11, 1976 Jerry was united in marriage to Nellie (Cochran) Workman, who survives at their Auburn home.
Surviving is his loving son, Jeffrey B. Workman (Jennifer Farrar) of Parkersburg, WV; a grandson, Michael Lee Anthony Workman of Tampa, FL; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Marie Workman, and 7 siblings, Robert Workman (Naomi), John Workman (Loretta), Melva Maynard, Harold Workman (Charlotte), Kenneth Workman (Loraine), Cora Ballard, and Germae Justice.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents (Cum and Gladys) Jerry is preceded in death by 11 siblings, Diana Kilgore, Rufus Workman, Betty Wright, Lorraine Bartram, Thelma Trent, Walter Grimmett, William Grimmett, French Grimmett, Oral Workman, Roger Workman, Roger Workman, and Norman Workman.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, November 14, 2025 with Russell Wick officiating. Burial will follow on the Workman Family Farm in Auburn, WV. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Friday at the mortuary in Glenville.
