Keener Incarcerated for Domestic Assault & Battery

In a complaint filed by West Virginia State Police officer Brian E. Young on June 16th, 2023, he stated that on June 15th, 2023 at 6:20 p.m. he was dispatched by Calhoun County 911 in reference to a domestic violence situation that was no longer in progress at 6929 West Little Kanawha Highway, Big Bend, WV. He drove to the location where he met with the victim, Rebecca Keener.

In a statement to Officer Young the victim stated that her daughter, Brooklyn Keener, had come to the residence to collect some of her belongings at which time a verbal argument accursed and the accused threatened to smack the victim in the face. The victim also stated that the accused had thrown a soda can at her during the argument and got soda all over her before leaving the residence. The victim’s husband, Phillip Keener, was present during the event and witnessed the same. Brooklyn Keener then left the residence and spun gravel from the parking lot.

The accused is the biological daughter of the victim and did share the residence with the victim until a temporary court order removed the accused temporarily.

In accordance with WV State Code 61-2-28(a) – Assault – Any person who unlawfully attempts to commit a violent injury against his or her family or household member, or unlawfully commits an act that place3s his or her family or household member in reasons apprehension of immediate receiving a violent injury, is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof shall be confined in jail for not more than six months or fined not more than $100, or both fined and confined.

In accordance with WV State Codes 61-2-28(b) – Battery – Any person who unlawfully and intentionally makes physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with his or her family or household member, or unlawfully and intentionally causes physical har to his or her family or household member, is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be confined in jails for not more than twelve months or fined not more than $500, or both fined and confined.

Brooklyn Nichole Keener is innocent until proven guilty in a court of Law.
