Larry Eugene Keaffaber passed away on June 4, 2023 at the age of 61 from congestive heart failure and gastrointestinal hemorrhage. He was born in Wabash, Indiana on September 7th, 1961 and spent most of his life in Warsaw, Indiana, before joining the U.S. Army in 1981.
Sgt. Larry Keaffaber served honorably as an armor crewman with first CAV Division and infantryman with 3rd infantry division for ten years and seven months, five years and five months of it overseas during the Gulf War. He was awarded many medals, including Good Conduct, National Defense Service, German Armed Forces Marksmanship Award and NCO Professional Development Ribbon. He served in Southwest Asia and received the Kuwait Liberation Medal and Bronze Service Stars. He was seriously injured by an ammunition accident and was a 100% disabled veteran after discharge. Although he worked at a number of occupations after leaving the military, he always considered the Army as his career. He served as a certified nurse’s aide on the Colville Indian Reservation, the IBP pig processing plant and as a pizza deliverer.
He was the Son of Lawrence Alan Keaffaber and Anna Louise Shoemaker, beloved Husband of Billie June Keaffaber for 37 years and Father of Pathrusin Levi, Grace Anne, Steven Aaron (Sr) and William Lawrence Keaffaber. Grandchildren include Jace Patrick Richard, Dominic Colton, Steven Aaron (Jr) and Katelyn Camilla Keaffaber. He is proceeded in death by his Sister, Mary Jane Keaffaber.
He is survived by his two Brothers, Gary Allen and Kerry Dwayne.
Larry liked to travel, play jokes, attend auctions, read (especially Science Fiction and Mysteries), collect coins, loved the outdoors and taking walks and he adored animals, especially his half Bengal- half Pug, Rosie. He was adventurous and generous. He is a man we all love and miss dearly.
Memorial Service will be 2 P.M. Saturday September 2, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
