Little Kanawha River Bank could use some work at the Recently Renovated City Park

The park looks amazing! Can we please do something about the riverbank?

The pictures in this article were sent to Ridgeview News in hopes of raising awareness of recent debris found over the bank of the newly renovated Grantsville City Park. Following the recent “Make Calhoun Shine” project for which Lisa Cooper spearheaded through the Cabot Recycling Center and the WVDEP Reap Program, which collected 547 bags of refuge and 68 tires from river banks and roadsides, with 114 volunteers, covering 28.5 miles of territory in Calhoun county, this site was more than a little disheartening.

The debris is likely from the materials removed from the playground area and discarded over the riverbank. Out of sight is not out of mind when park visitors wander over to view the beautiful Little Kanawha River, but instead find what’s left of the old park.
