Local Civil Air Patrol holds Promotion Ceremony for Cadet and Senior Member

Kyle Norman received his new rank of “Cadet Airman 1st Class” during the Tuesday Evening squadron meeting of the Civil Air Patrol in Grantsville. CA1C Norman was pinned by his parents Byron and Bridgett Norman of Normantown, WV.

For a young Cadet to travel through the ranks of the Civil Air Patrol there is a course of study, eligibility requirements that must be met and leadership skills to be learned as they advance. Cadets become positive, team-oriented leaders, with core values of honesty and integrity, practicing their skills not only in the program but in their everyday lives as well.

Also receiving a promotion in rank was 1st Lieutenant Jerry Howell. 1st Lt. Howell was pinned by his wife, 1st Lieutenant Emma Howell and Lt. Col. Lewis P. Craddock. Senior members of the Civil Air Patrol are promoted in the same manner as the Cadets, working their way through training, program materials and proving their leadership skills through the instruction and modeling of service to their unit, community and Nation.

Lewis Craddock, or attend the local squadron meeting on Tuesday’s at 6 p.m. at the squadron house located beside the First Baptist Church in Grantsville.
