The Family wishes to express their heartfelt thank you to the staffs at both Pineview Nursing and Rehabilitation and Minnie Hamiliton Heath System’s for the loving care and attention she received during her last years. To the Staff at Minnie Hamiliton, she became “Mamaw” to most that cared for her. The staff’s attention to her needs, both physical, emotional and anticipated were beyond belief. A special thank you to Ashley Collins who became an adopted granddaughter.
Lorene remained very proud of her roots in Braxton County. With the exception of a few years when the family relocated to Fairmont, her fondest memories were of her years there. Many discussions either started or ended with remembrances of her childhood and as a young adult in and around Gip, Elmira, and Nicut.
Enjoying many careers over her years, Lorene worked as a live in housekeeper, in a woodshop, a manufacturing plant, as a store clerk, a care giver and as a babysitter. Never meeting a stranger, she was always ready for a conversation regardless of the subject. She had a keen wit and quick sense of humor that when applied most always resulted in uncontrollable laughter.
Always a lover of music, Lorene could recall and render her rendition of most anything from the 1930’s through the mid 1960’s. She always felt that music lost “something” after that period of time. Still, she found favorites in later releases especially in Gospel and Americana genres.
Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 107 Market St., Grantsville, WV 26147, on Thursday July 10, 2025, at 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service.
