On June 11, 2025 Trooper Brian Young was on routine patrol in Grantsville, WV when he observed an a dark in color Ford FI50 driving north on WV RT 16 at a high rate of speed. Trooper Young turned onto WV RT 16 behind the truck and activated his radar unit observing the speed of the suspect’s vehicle tobe 38 in a 25 MPH zone. The officer then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle as they pulled onto Hospital Drive.
Trooper Young approached the driver , Robert Marks and requested his driver’s license, registration and insurance information. As he was speaking to the accused, he observed that the speech of Mr. Marks was slow and slurring partially. He then requested the accused remove his sunglasses at which time Trooper Young observed the eye pupils of the accused were very constricted. He asked Marks to step out of the vehicle and preform standard road sobriety tests to which the he failed. Robert Marks was placed under arrest and transported to the WVSP detachment in Grantsville where he
requested to be drug tested at the hospital. The accused was then transported to Minnie Hamilton Hospital for a Blood Draw before returning to the WVSP detachment where he was charged and processed for Speeding, No seatbelt and DUI.
Robert Marks is being held at the WV Central Regional Jail without a bond being listed.
