Michigan Man Arrested for DUI in Chloe

On Friday the 16th of December, 2022 at approximately 3:30 a.m. , Trooper J.D. Richards was going home down WV Rt. 16 Southbound in Chloe, Calhoun County, WV when he came across a 2000 GMC Yukon Bearing a Michigan Registration that wrecked into the ditch off the right side of the road.

Trooper Richards noticed that the driver was trying to get the vehicle out of the ditch, so he flipped on his emergency lights on the Cruiser. He spoke with the driver, Stephen Jude Eisler, 38 years old and could immediately smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage. When questioning Mr. Eisler he gave slow, slurred replies while staggering on the roadside. Trooper Richards inquired of the accused if he had anything to drink, which he replied with “he did not at all.”

Trooper Richards called for a wrecker and conducted a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests thereafter and determined that the accused was in fact very impaired. He took Mr. Eisler into custody on the charges of DUI (1st), no insurance (because no current insurance could be located when the Trooper inquired), unsafe and improperly equipped vehicle (from the rust holes and cracked windshield that Trooper Richards observed on the vehicle and the Vice Clamped brake line that the accused uttered was one of the problems causing his wreck.

This Trooper transported the Stephen Eisler to the Calhoun County 911 center in Mt. Zion, WV for a secondary Chemical test of breath where the accused was introduced with an implied consent for which he was read and signed. The accused refused both tests that Trooper Richards conducted. He was then transported to the WVSP Grantville Detachment where Trooper Richards drafted and had signed by Calhoun Magistrate Lora Davis a warrant for a blood sample from the accused. The warrant was executed by bringing the accused to Minnie Hamilton Health Systems in Grantsville, Calhoun County, WV where a sample of his Blood was obtained.

Stephen Eisler of Fraser, Michigan was then transported again to the West Virginia State Police Office where he was charged with
