Minnie Hamilton Health System is pleased to announce we are joining Donate Life WV and the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) in efforts to save and heal lives through organ, tissue and cornea donation. We have also joined with other National Partners (national associations and advocacy groups in the healthcare sector), regional and local donation organizations, and their hospital partners to educate hospital communities on the importance of signing up to be a donor. The campaign, which has helped to register more than 419,000 people to state registries, aim to add more donor designations by April 30, 2023 with the help of our hospital and community.
Every 10 minutes a new person is added to the national organ transplant waiting list that is now over 110,000 people whose lives depend on an organ transplant. This week, more than 150 of them will die because not enough organs are available. While thousands of others whose lives would benefit from the gift of eye and tissue donation continue to wait and hope.
