Minnie Hamilton’s LTC gets a Special Prom Night Visit

by Rebecca Swisher

Let me begin by saying this was all student led and driven. The idea, originally coming from Ashlyn Boak, a junior at CCHS and a Health Occupations student at CGCC. Her colleagues were quickly on board and put their plan into motion.

These ladies finished the required clinical hours on LTC at Minnie Hamilton for the CNA State Registry Exam but didn’t stop there once their hours were completed.

During clinical they immediately bonded with the residents of LTC and developed a sincere appreciation of them. They know the residents only see what is brought to them or shown on a screen, and they were determined to let them see them all dressed up in person. So, arranged by students and staff at Minnie Hamilton, these ladies met on LTC prior to arriving at prom and visited the residents. Their dates, as well!

It does my heart good to see young people respecting and appreciating the wisdom the older generation has to offer and taking advantage of the opportunity to gain it from them.
