The paint continues to flow down Main Street in Grantsville with two more buildings getting a face lift that is dramatically changing not only the color palette but the community vibe. Mayor Robert Petrovsky said that they’d already decided to paint the City building prior to the “Paint the Town” event, but felt his purchase Denim blue was beautiful choice. A new sign was also placed on the front of the building making it an easy locate for visitors.
Calhoun FRN has always been a bright spot on Main Street by being a consistent help to the community, but their purchase of bright red paint and black trim was a perfect touch to the beauty of the building architecture.
Crystal Mersh spoke to Sergeant C.J. Weekley of the West Virginia State Police who said that he would reach out to Charleston in hopes that their building will follow suit in the sprucing up of Main Street. The West Virginia State Police Office is located in the other half of the City Office building.
Tim Moore, State Farm Agent, will be changing his building color to grey with a hint of sage with red and white trim. He also hopes to put a mural on the side of his building that faces the Post Office.
Crystal Mersh and The 1982 Foundation are purchasing the Masonic lodge building on the corner of Main and Court Streets. It will be receiving a new colorful awning, but in hopes of getting viewed to become a historical landmark the stone will remain untouched on the building.
Grantsville has always had character, but after decades of business closures and economic decline it is hoped that the new face of the Town will draw in some new faces of visitors and stimulate the economy once again.
