Amy Rogers, owner of the new NAPA at the corner of Market and South Calhoun Highway has began a journey much like that of her Grandfather, Don Morris several decades before. While Don did not own a NAPA franchise, he ran a very similar store of the day known as Calhoun Super Service that was Grantsville’s local go to for auto parts and accessories located on the corner of Main and Court streets. At the discouraging news of the closure of NAPA this past June, Amy picked up the gauntlet once ran by her Grandfather and is now providing the much needed business of auto part sales in Calhoun.
Amy and husband Wes Rogers have ran Calhoun Auto Care, a successful Auto Mechanics and Repair Shop on South Calhoun Highway for several years. Transitioning to auto parts was not only very natural, it was needful for them as well as the community. Their hope is to continue to grow and expand the business in Grantsville to provide more services to the community. But for now, Amy will operate NAPA and Wes will continue to provide repair services at the Calhoun Auto Care location.
Another thing that has not changed is the phone number which once served Calhoun Super Service from the beginning of phone service, likely in the 1950’s of 60’s, and was the number for the previous NAPA store owned by Amtower. The phone number continues to be (304)354-6120.
Jim Hughes, new staff member for NAPA shows off a Napa cap from his previous employment for NAPA Corporate offices in Charleston, WV. Jim gave the cap to Amy for display in her new business as a piece of history. The hours of operation for NAPA will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Closed Sunday.
Ridgeview and Amy discussed the growing business climate currently happening in Grantsville. It’s a joy to see the many empty storefronts in Grantsville now occupied with new businesses and an excitement of a community being renewed. There was once at least 8 closed store fronts now occupied by 6 very active businesses.
