Napa to Close their Doors in Grantsville on July 1

Nobody was anymore surprised than the employees of NAPA this morning when they were informed their employment would be coming to an end as the Amtower Auto Supply would be closing their doors at the Grantsville location on July 1st. A conversation with owner Mark Amtower of Shinnston, WV left more unanswered questions.

When I asked their reason for closure, he replied ”They had no public statement prepared at this time, but they’d informed the employees why earlier.” He did say their decision was final.

The Auto Parts store has been a staple in the community for numerous years. Opened originally as Calhoun Super-Service Inc, which organized and issued a charter in 1935, with stockholders L. J. Morris, C. A. Jarvis and Earnest Mollohan. Their business served Calhoun County in multiple facets within the very large facility, including auto parts, auto sales, furniture and appliances. When the building was completely in tact it stretched a block width from the corner of Main and Court Streets to the Corner of Court and High Street

Calhoun Super Service sold the business to Rick Jarvis and after 21 years he sold the store to Amtower Auto Supply in 2003.

There will be a loss of not only a much needed business, but three employees will be added to an already high unemployment count in Calhoun County.
