Narrow Road Topples Truck on Rush Run Road

A 12:30 a.m. OnStar call had the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, Minnie Hamilton EMS, the West Virginia State Police and Westfall Wrecker service on the the scene of a one vehicle accident, not far past the bridge entrance of Rush Road off of Russet Road, Route 7 on Sunday, October 29th, 2024.

Investigating officer Trooper Brandon Hazelwood, on temporary assignment from Clay County, stated that it appeared Kenny Sears of Grantsville, driving anChevrolet 2500 truck veered too close the berm of a very narrow road, causing him to slide over the embankment and toppling onto his side, sending his fuel tank and tool box further over the steep hill.

Upon the deployment of his airbag OnStar, unknowingly to Mr. Sears, had alerted Calhoun Control 911. Sears left the scene briefly to call home but returned to the scene of the accident to speak to speak to Trooper Hazelwood. No charges were filed.
