Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 6:13 p.m. on Sunday evening to the home of John and Kyra Posey on Philips Run, in Grantsville, WV for an outbuilding fire.
According to John Posey, he was not home at the time that the fire started in a small metal outbuilding from an unknown origin. The building (which had no electric) was filled with various materials, but the the cause of the fire could not be determined. It was very close to their primary residence, which is located across a wooden bridge that would not have withstood the weight of the firetruck. The Grantsville Department had to string a few hundred feet of hose from the main road, across the creek and over to the dwelling to be able to battle the blaze. Even so, it took less than an hour to bring the blaze under control.
