American Medicines Company (AMC) continues to work hard to establish a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in West Virginia with a focus on Calhoun County. The Company led by Crystal Mersh aims to bring high-tech jobs into the area and revitalize the local economy by manufacturing critical medicines like those for blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid conditions. With the recent activity over seas, it’s not hard to see how an error or intentional destruction could occur involving the pharmaceutical industries in India, China and elsewhere. Many, and in some cases all, of certain high demand medicines are manufactured outside the United States. Creating the risk of American supplies be exhausted in thirty days time and patients would be without life saving medicine.
While there is nothing certain about AMC coming to Calhoun County, It will not be for the lack of trying and the attention the AMC leaders are giving to raise awareness on the subject and shine the light on how Calhoun residents and businesses are preparing for it to come so that everything is ready to welcome AMC to the community. This opportunity will change the fabric (which has quite frankly been a little worn) to a garment of praise by offering not only the fix for an American Crisis, but will turn the community and surrounding counties into the land of opportunity for jobs and industry.
