Pleasant Hill Public Service District office manager, Karen Shreve, announced this evening that they currently have their water lines in operation to the junction of Route 16 and Route 47. The Smithville area is currently without water, but pottable water and bottled water has been provided to the community. Gilmer County Fire Department donated 58 cases of bottled water to be distributred to the Smithville area.

There is still a water leak that has yet to be located creating an issue with the PSD being able to fill their tanks and keep the water supply at capacity. The crews are shutting valves and taking the necessary measures to locate the leak as soon as possible and restore service to customers.

The area is currently on a boiled water advisory until further notice.
