PRE-ADOPTION NEWSPAPER NOTICE FOR SEWER RATE CHANGES

​​NOTICE

TOWN OF GRANTSVILLE

Notice is hereby given that the Town of Grantsville, a municipal corporation, will hold a hearing before the final vote on a proposed ordinance, the principal object of which is the increase of sewer rates for customers of the sewer system operated by the Town of Grantsville.  The title of such ordinance is “An Ordinance to Increase Sewer Rates.”

The Town of Grantsville is proposing the following rates, fees and/or charges:

    RULES AND REGULATIONS

I.​Rules and Regulations for the Government of Sewer Utilities, adopted by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia, and now in effect, and all amendments thereto and modifications thereof hereafter made by said Commission.

       ​​​​SECTION 1 – TARIFF

(Effective 45 Days After Enactment)

APPLICABILITY

​Applicable in the entire territory or area served.

AVAILABILITY OF SERVICE

​Available for residential, commercial and industrial customers.

RATES (Based upon metered volume of water supplied)

​First ​1,500​gallons used per month​​$40.01

​Over​1,500​gallons used per month​​$17.31​per 1,000 gallons per month

​*** A sixty (60%) percent increase form the existing rate of $25.01.

MINIMUM CHARGE

​No bill will be rendered for less than the following amount​$40.01c L.

UNMETERED USERS

​No bill will be rendered for less than the following amount​$40.01

DELAYED PAYMENT PENALTY

The above tariff is net.  On all current usage billing not paid in full within twenty (20) days, ten percent (10%) will be added to the net current amount unpaid.  This delayed payment is not interest and is only to be collected once for each bill where it is appropriate. 

SEWER SERVICE CHARGE

A charge of $25.00 will be made for re-establishing a disconnected service having been cut off to collect a sewer bill.

TAP FEE

The following charges are to be made whenever the utility installs a new tap to serve an applicant:

A tap fee of $300.00 will be charged to customers who apply for service outside of a certificate proceeding before the Commission for each new tap to the system.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

Not to exceed two-twelfths (2/12) of the annual usage of the applicant’s specific customer class, or fifty ($50.00), whichever is greater.  This fee may be changed by applicable statutory provisions.

RETURNED CHECK RATE

If a check is returned by the bank for any reason, the bank’s charge to the utility shall be the utility’s charge to the customer for such a bad check, but such charge to customers shall not exceed $30.00.

The final vote on adoption of said proposed ordinance shall be held in the Council Chambers of the Town of Grantsville Town Hall, 362 Main Street, Grantsville, WV 26147 at 6:00pm, on May 22nd, 2023.  Interested parties may appear and be heard at such time with respect to the passage of the proposed ordinance.  Copies of the proposed ordinance are available at the Town of Grantsville municipal building, 362 Main Street, Grantsville WV 26147, Monday-Friday    8:00am -4:00pm.
