
Commissioner Jacob McCumbers tended a letter of resignation (above) to the Calhoun County Commission resigning his position as Calhoun County Commissioner effective immediately.
At a regularly scheduled meeting of the Calhoun County Commission held on October 14th, 2025, Mr. McCumbers’ resignation as County Commissioner was formally accepted. This resignation by Mr. McCumbers is not an admission of guilt on his behalf and he remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
We would like to thank him for his service to Calhoun County and The Calhoun County Commission continues to pray for all of the individuals and families affected by these allegations. We will now turn our attention and energy to identifying and naming a new commissioner to fill the empty seat left by Mr. McCumbers resignation as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to continue to effectively serve Calhoun County and its citizens. As this matter continues to involve an open and ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.
