Introducing “Project Bootstraps” Workshop! Shelia Burch and Crystal Mersh have been steadily making their way through a series of grants that are available and applicable to Calhoun County. They have organized a half day workshop to outline the key needs in four major areas where substantial grant monies are available.
The workshop for Saturday May 14 from 9:00am to 1:00 will be held at the Little Kanawha Transit Authority location, 6162 S Calhoun Hwy., Mt. Zion, WV.
Folks are needed who are interested and have knowledge in the following areas to come, participate, and provide input. The four areas are the following:
1) Business incubator & entrepreneurial support
2) Farm to table/market & local food supply
3) Recreational: hunting, fishing, waterway development, ATV trail development
4) Recovery programs & services
Crystl Mersh stated that ”This is a critical and important milestone for the transformation of Calhoun County. It is our opportunity to take control of our circumstances and show folks in WV and all over what we can do. I need a favor though….I need you to stop doubting yourself and saying “well I am not very good at xyz” (speaking, business, etc etc)…because it is not true. There are many ways to get an education and many of the most valuable educations that actually allow for learning how to make things happen come from experience in the field aka “the school of hardknocks” not a school that ends in the word university. So it is time to stop doubting yourself Calhoun….it’s not gonna work with me cause I know better. :-)”
So we need EVERYONE who wants better for our county to show up and contribute to ideas and actions to move progress forward.
