Randall John “Randy” Harold, 69, of Chloe, W.Va., died Friday, August 2, 2024, at home, after an extended battle with cancer.
He was born July 7, 1955, at Spencer, W.Va., the son of Dixie L. Wilmoth Harold of Newton, W.Va. and the late John Merrell Harold.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 43 years, Beverly Jo Ann Jarvis Harold; daughters, Erika Suzanne (Ryan) Kemper of Sydney, Ohio and Leah Paige (Garrett) Grubb of Friendsville, Md., grandchildren, John Nicholas Kemper, Joseph Carl Kemper, James Randall Grubb and Daisy Jo Grubb; sisters, Betsy L. (Orland) Huffman of Spencer and Brenda S. (Gary) Lowe of Hickory, N.C.; brother Gary Dayton (Diane) Harold of Newton; brother-in-law, Randy (Carolyn) Jarvis of Parkersburg, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Anita West of Mt. Zion, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Randy was a retired employee of Casto and Harris, Inc., Spencer and a former employee of Fred Hill Chevrolet, Tom Parrill Chevrolet and Spencer Auto Group. He was also a 1973 graduate of Spencer High School.
Randy was a Christian and had attended the Milo Church, Milo, W.Va. His pastimes included the simple things in life, spending time with family, farming and gardening, hunting and blue grass music.
He was a local historian, who enjoyed telling and retelling stories about growing up in Southern Roane County and Calhoun County. Randy never met a stranger and will be missed by many people in our area.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 7 at 1:00 p.m. at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Geary Legg and the Rev. Rick Metheny officiating. Burial will be in the Harold Cemetery, Uler.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
