Remembering the Floods of Yesteryears

Grantsville resident Terry Harris sent Ridgeview a few pictures that she had kept from the years of flooding in the City with a treasured story as well.

Larry (Harris) was on city council in the 70’s early 80’s maybe. He worked with Mayor Joe Virden and was always up on the floods. He had an extra interest because his sister lived down near the pool and it got her home at least twice, and burned down the house the last time in November of 1985. A furnace caused a fire when the flood came up. I don’t even know how to explain that. But we stood in snow watching the fire fighter wade the flooded water to put out the fire.

Larry had a hand written list of flooding and Terry retyped it one and I had typed the one in this story.
