Republicans Host Judicial Candidates and Elect New Chair and Vice Chair

Candidates for Judge of the 5th Judicial Circuit

The Calhoun County Republican Executive Committee met on Tuesday, December 19th with guests, Josh Downey and Anita Harold Ashley, candidates for Circuit Judge in the 5th Judicial Circuit. Both candidates had strong conservative views points and shared their experience with the the Republican Executive Committee members. 

Following the speakers, the Executive Committee held an election for two key positions of Chair and Vice Chair, following the resignation of Roger Propst upon appointment to the Calhoun County Commission. 

Shari Johnson was elected Chairwoman and Melissa West was elected Vice Chairwoman of the Calhoun Republican Executive Committee. Also elected was Graham Knight as Executive representative for the Center District of Calhoun and Dennis Spaur was appointed by Chairwoman Shari Johnson for the Lee District. 

Much of the meeting discussion was centered around the upcoming Lincoln Day Dinner plans for February. The Republican Committee is once again planning a great event and opportunity to meet with elected and “to be” elected officials. The official announcement will come in January of the Key Note speaker and notable guest.

The next regular meeting of the Calhoun Reppublican Executive Committee will be January 15th, 2024.
