Ronnie A. Richards Obituary

Submitted by Misty Richards

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Ronnie A. Richards passed away in the early morning hours of April 6th, 2024. Ronnie was a resident of Backfork Road in Big Springs, WV. Son of Ronzel, and Maria del Aguila Richards, he was born March 5th, 1965 in Seville, Spain. He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1983 and entered the Army attaining the rank of Private First Class before going on active duty in the United States Airforce, he was quickly promoted to Airman First Class; he served proudly. He loved reading psychology and history books and meeting interesting people with hospitality. I do not doubt that he is now exploring the universe, his love for conspiracy theories, and venturing into the unknown!

Ronnie was preceded to heaven by his mother and father, aunts and uncles, and his beloved grandparents. He is survived by his children Misty Nicole Richards of Charleston, WV, and Shaina Lynn Green and her husband Cecil, of Spencer, WV Eight grandchildren: Laykin Glasser, Waylon Robertson, Sawyer Richards(Miller), Ezekiel Stump, Colton and Savannah Wagoner, Kaylee and Natalie Green friend and the mother of his children, Cheryl, (and her husband David Richards of Mount Zion, WV) His Brothers: Jose (wife Jenny) and Juan (wife Tammy) and sister Lydia Richards (Husband Lyle, dads best friend), as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ronnie was a deeply beloved father, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected but quick, just like he always hoped it would be. While we lost our adored dad, many have lost a friend and loved one. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing to others, and even a glorious pain in the neck to some. No matter what happened in our lives, once you were marked as important to him, he’d be by your side if you needed him always.

There was so much more to him than just a dad, though to us that was his greatest role – he was also a friend, a coworker, a colleague, a cousin, a brother, an inventor, a sculptor, a handyman, and the list goes on and on. It was his wish that we laugh, reminisce, and smile together during this time, so please let us honor his memories.

We will be holding a small memorial service on 04/21 at 2pm. Contact me at (304) 543-1026 to RSVP
