Following complaints filed on two separate occasions, Angela Kay Sampson was arrested for 2 counts of Domestic Assault and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The first charge was filed by Cpl. Brian E. Young of the West Virginia State Police on August 10th, 2023. In his complaint, Cpl. Young stated that on Thursday, August 10, 2023 he recieved a radio call from Calhoun County 911 in reference to a domestic situation occuring at 5104 Arnoldsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, WV. He then activated his emergency lights and drove to the location.
Upon arriving, Cpl. Young spoke to Ronald Sampson, the victim in the alleged incident who stated that his daughter, Angela K. Sampson had arrived at this residence the night prior and slept on the porch. He stated that on the 10th, she had came into his residence and began a verbal argument while looking for a blue bag she claimed to have. When she could not find it, she threatened to burn the house down and Ronald believed she would do it. During this time Angela K. Sampson was in the yard being verbally aggressive and insisting on taking her to jail. She advised Cpl. Young that she was currently wanted in the state of California for the charge of arson, which was later confirmed through the WVSP dispatch. Ronald Sampson advised the officer that Angela K. Sampson did not live at the residence and had only arrived the evening prior.
The second complaint came on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at approximately 5:30 p.m. when Corporal D.C. Moore received a call regarding a disturbance at 5104 Arnolsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, WV. The neighbor called the disturbance in saying that the neighbor’s daughter, Angela Sampson was out in the yard throwing rocks into the roadway, was using a hammer to bust up her father’s porch and was cussing and threatening all the neighbors.
A short time later, Cpl. Moore received a second c all for the same individual from her father at that residence. The father advised that his daughter was tearing his stuff up, destroying his porch and busiting things in the house. He advised that he was in fear of her, saying that she may do something to him.
Cpl. Moore arrived at approximately 6:20 p.m. and spoke with Ronald Sampson, father of Angela Sampson. Ronald showed Cpl. Moore the damage done by Angela, which included glass broken all down the hallway and in the kitchen of the house, food scattered on the floors and the front post on the porch had been all torn up by a claw hammer. Ronald said that he was in fear that Angela would harm him while she was staying in the house. He further stated that she had gone up on the hill behind the house, but he didn’t know if she was still up there or if she had left.
Cpl. Moore then went across the street to speak with the neighbors, Derek and LeeAnn Wright. Derek informed him that Angela had been throwing rocks out onto the roadway and had been trespassing on his property. She had been cussing out her dad, and even been saying something about the neighbors house burning. While speaking with Derek, Cpl. Moore seen Angela coming out of the woods carrying a large log in one hand and a claw hammer in the other. As he approached her and asked her to ut the hammer and log down, she did so without hesitation. He advised her that she had warrants out of Pennsylvania, and that she was under arrest so that the warrants could be taken care of. Cpl. Moore also told Angela that if she wouldn’t give him any trouble he would place the handcuffs on her in the front, and Angela agreed saying she wouldn’t be any trouble. However when Cpl. Moore began to lead her down the driveway, she began to fight against him, pulling back on the cuffs attempting to throw the officer off balance. She began screaming to the top of her lungs saying that Cpl. Moore was kidnapping her and was going to sell her into sex slavery. The officer attempted to reason with her but she continued to scream and fight. Cpl. Moore took her to the ground with a leg sweep and held the cuffs to keep her from getting away. She attempted to bite the officer in the arm but ended up biting herself several times. Cpl. Moore then used his elbow to force her face away so she could no longer bite. After a short time she calmed down and was allowed to sit up. But she then got to her feet. She attempted to kiss and lick Cpl. Moore’s arm, which he again used his elbow to push her face out of the way. He held her there until Trooper McDonald arrived to assist in the arrest.
Angela Sampson was arrested and taken to the WV Central Regional Jail where she awaits trial. Her bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
