It seems that our State Senator Joe Manchin is keenly aware that he is a lone sheep in the land of democrats. He acknowledged that moderate Democrats like himself are not the standard issues for the country telling CNN that ”The bases are looking for something that’s more sensational, I guess, and more divisive.”
Democrats were facing the reality that the Nation is in disagreement with the direction we’re going when a number of them were edged out following Tuesday’s primaries.
Joe has told his constituents on more than one occasion that he ”answers to the State of West Virginia,” not those in Washington, D.C., and his supporters have made him aware of the stand they wish him to take. While the remainder of the Democratic Party, (save 2) supported eliminating the filibuster, Manchin and Sinema have refused to do despite pleas from their party.
The Democrats yearlong battle over the party’s signature bill is now on Joe Machin’s home field once again. While Chuck Schumer has met with Manchin on more than one occasion to try and sway his decision, Manchin has made it clear that he wants legislation that will address ways to fight the inflation or his vote stands at no.
Only time will tell if Manchin continues to face the critics of the Democrat agenda and supports the stand of his State.
