Surrounded by his loving family, Darrell Lee Null, 74, of Elizabeth, WV, died at home June 24, 2024, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Orvel Lee and Thelma Valentine Null. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Mike Null, Carolyn Foggin and an infant sister.
Darrell was a 1967 graduate of Wirt County High School and attended Elizabeth Baptist Church. He started Darrell L. Null Dozer Service in 1969, working in the oil field and timber. He was Sheriff of Wirt County during the years 1993-2000 and 2021-2024. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda Higgins Null; his children Shonnette Null and Isaac Null, Tracy Galloway (Jared), Kelly Bell (Denton) and Katie Bell (Kalob); grandchildren Kaylen, Eyan, Bryce, Brayden and Cayden Galloway, Mallory, Paisley and Emma Bell and Kane Bell; his sister Sandy Wright (Wayne) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be 11:00am, Friday, June 28, 2024, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth, WV. Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2024, 2-4 and 6-8PM and 9:00am until time of service on Friday, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at K of P Cemetery, Elizabeth, WV. Matheny Whited Funeral Home was honored to assist the Null family.
