If you’re one of the people who struggle with the wintertime blues, when the dismal gray and cold weather effects your attitude and the passing of Christmas leaves you longing for sunny weather, a trip to Grantsville might just put a little sunshine in your soul.
The 1982 Foundation and their staff work tirelessly to create opportunities for the citizens of Calhoun County and for the visitors to the area to have something to look forward to. In the dead of winter it’s wonderful to look toward the former Calhoun County High School and see the construction crews continuing to bring the Avalon campus to life. The Saundra Johnson Aquatic Center is a reminder of how quickly things can change and cries of “There’s nothing to do!” Can turn to the laughter we heard ringing at the pool in the summer of 2024.
While summer is five or six months out, there’s still some things happening around Grantsville that have opportunities springing up in Town and give reason to don your cold weather gear and head to the little city we call home.
The 1982 Foundation have announced that they’ll be opening a pop-up shoppe for local artisans. They’re hoping to have the shoppe open shortly after the New Year (at their Main Street location) as a preview of what’s to come once the Community Center on the Avalon Campus is up and running.
If you would like more information on the shoppe, contact The 1982 Foundation either at their office or through social media and we’ll get more information out as it becomes available.
