Our job here is done.
The finest performance space in central West Virginia is now open for business at the Calhoun M/HS auditorium.
For the last two weeks, the technicians from Knight Sound & Lighting and their subcontractor electricians from Speelman Electric have been working in the auditorium.
A completely new electrical system is installed. All new LED house and stage lights are in place. A phenomenal sound system is up and running.
Music Director Mike McHenry and other school staff were trained on the new sound board and wireless light controls, though they have their work cut out for them to learn everything these systems can do.
Thanks to everyone who contributed. The schools put in the largest amount, followed by our county commission. Calhoun Banks and Minnie Hamilton Health System donated. Anonymous folks gave $10,000 and $15,000. We had a $15,000 grant from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. Speaker Hanshawtogether with state senators Martin and Queen donated $20,000. And then there were loads of smaller donations from $3,000 to $25. It all added up.
In the end, the project cost almost a quarter of a million dollars.
The first big reveal will be the school Christmas Concert on December 15 and 16.Public Performances: Friday December 15th at 6pm
Saturday December 16th at 3pm.
This is a special invitation to everyone who donated. Please Come See What WeAccomplished Together!
We’re also hoping that the community will find many uses for our bright, loud concert space. Can we have drama, music, dance? The performance space is just waiting for performers.
