Mr. Thomas “Harold” Morehead, 73, of Grantsville, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, WV.
Harold was the son of Cecil Harold “Bill” Morehead and Wonoka “Tommy” Goodnight Morehead. He served his country in the 7th Infantry Division of the US Army and was a proud veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and often served as a local officer in the organization over the years. His life’s work was in the oil field, which he truly loved. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and truly could have “lived off the land.” He loved the Chicago Bears and rarely missed watching them play. Harold fought a courageous battle with Agent Orange exposure leading to kidney disease and over a decade of dialysis. He was 73 years old.
Mr. Morehead is survived by his only child Lora (Michael) Morehead and granddaughter Sara, along with several siblings in the region. Brenda (Vaughn) Richards, Ginger (Ivan) Richards, Debbie (Harold) Newsome, Marlene Sekelik, and Kevin Morehead. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sisters Phyllis Groves and Kathleen Ferrell along with brothers Steve Goodnight and Woodrow Patterson. Harold touched the lives of many and will be missed tremendously, including the family of his longtime close friend Sue Lamp.
A special thanks to the Clarksburg VA Center and Fresenius-Braxton County Center for their long time care, and to the ER at WVU Medicine Bridgeport for their tireless efforts.
