The Grantsville Municipal Water Treatment Plant has been receiving an upgrade with USDA and ARC funding totaling $4,168,070. The reasoning behind the upgrade is to make necessary improvements to the 700 gpm facility to secure uninterrupted delivery of potable water to the majority of Calhoun County.
Grantsville currently supplies water to not only the City of Grantsville but also resells water to the Mt. Zion Public Service District and the Pleasant Hill Public Service district that travels into Ritchie County. Keeping up with the demand has not been easy for the aging system.
Orders Construction have been removing the current river pumps that lay at the bottom of an 8 ft. X 50 ft. pump station by crane. The next major upgrade will be the dismantling of the clarifier and redoing the works inside which will occur this coming October when the parts become available. Orders will also take down the filters on the interior of the plant, sandblast and repaint the basins and redo the mechanics inside.
Construction will continue to slow water production for Chief . Operator David Johnson and Operator Craig Gherke but will stay constant until the project is completed. I
