According to Calhoun Control around a dozen calls were dispatched to aid travelers who needed assistance or tows due to the treacherous conditions of the snow covered roads with nearly six inches of new snow falling over night and into Sunday, January 19th,2025.
The West Virginia Department of Highway crews continue to work around the clock as crew members work 12 hour shifts to insure that Calhoun Roads are as clear as possible. But even with the hours contributed, a quick heavy snow, such as that over the weekend made it impossible to keep up.
Westfall’s Towing and Volunteer Fire Crews were kept busy Sunday morning assisting travelers out of the ditch and out of pathway of accidents. Many area churches canceled services, or Pastors streamed online from home.
Calhoun County is blessed with hardworking road crews, volunteers and Westfalls Wrecker service to keep us on the road, and help us out of the ditch when the needs arise.
