On Sunday August 25th the Gilmer County Little Pioneers travelled to Mt Zion to take on our Calhoun Little Red Devils. The day started off with Calhouns flag team getting their 3rd victory of the season by a score of 8 touchdowns to 2 touchdowns. Miles Davis, Elijah Yeager and Bryer Swisher each had 2 scores while Hal’Lee Hughes and Henry Poore each had 1 touchdown.
Calhoun’s C team was looking to win their second game in a row and they was successful coming away with a 68-0 win. Braxton Carter scored 6 rushing touchdowns on the day. Chase Parsons added 2 scores on the ground, while Asher Starcher and Noah Richards each had 1 rushing touchdown. Defensively Asher Starcher led the team with 6 tackles.
The next game was B team where both Calhoun and Gilmer came into the game undefeated. It was a close game and came right down to the final snap with just a few seconds left on the clock. While both teams played a great game it was Calhoun coming away with a 31-27 victory while remaining undefeated. Colten Heiney and Quinten Parkin led the charge offensively with Heiney scoring 3 rushing touchdowns and Parkin added 2 scores on the ground. Defensively Carper Summers and Jaxon Ingram led the team with 5 tackles each.
The final game of the day was A Team. Calhoun jumped out to an early lead and never looked back and they walked off the field with a 46-0 victory at the end of the game. Tyler Mayle had 3 rushing Touchdowns on the day and was backed up by Bentley Snodgress with 2 rushing scores and Abram Dow added his first rushing touchdown on the season. Liam Yeager added a passing score with a 14 yard toss and score to Tristan Rogers. Defensively Bentley Snodgress had 10 tackles to lead the team.
The Little Red Devils do not have a game this upcoming weekend because of the Labor Day weekend. They will be back in action on Saturday September 7th when they travel to Ravenswood to take on their Red Devils.
