Virgie Iris (Minney) Harris, 95, of Grantsville, WV went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2024.
She was born in Staten, West Virginia on June 24, 1928 to the late Earl and Sylvia Minney, the eldest of five children. She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1944 and worked at the Ben Franklin 5-10 Store and the Boling Clinic, both in Grantsville, before moving to Ohio where she lived for 36 years.
While living in Ohio she was a member of the Midview Baptist Church in Grafton and served the Lord by teaching Sunday School for many years. She retired from Greif Brothers in Cleveland, Ohio in 1990.
After retiring and moving back to West Virginia, she became an active member of the Rush Run Baptist Church and Rush Run CEOS Club. She enjoyed reading, quilting, shopping and working in her flower garden.
Virgie is survived by her daughter Kathy (Dave) Bishop of Hamilton, VA and sister Marguerite Stump of Grantsville, WV. She is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, including Mark (Amy) Starcher of Charleston, WV, who was very dear to her and called her Grandma, Doug (Jennifer) Stump and Larry Stump, both of Grantsville, WV and a dear niece Diane Huffman of Parkersburg, WV.
Virgie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth (Mike) Harris, son Kenny Harris, parents Earl and Sylvia Minney, two brothers, Harry (Oren) Minney and Earl Ralph Minney and sister, Verla Simon,
We would like to thank the caregivers at Minney Hamilton Health System in Grantsville, WV, Shenandoah Center in Charles Town, WV and Hospice of the Panhandle for their care and devotion during Virgie’s final years.
The family will receive friends at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 1-3 pm, immediately followed by a service at 3:00 p.m., officiated by the Rev John Vannoy.
