Walter Franklin McCormick, 87, of Orma, WV, passed away August 7, 2024, at his home.
He was born July 23, 1937, in Roane County, WV, a son of the late Elwood and Dollie Ayers McCormick.
Walter moved to Cleveland and began work as a skilled craftsman at the age of 18. He worked assembling saxophones, trumpets, flutes, and clarinets at King Musical Instruments/U.M.I. until retiring at age 65.
Walter married Muriel Carpenter in June of 1958. They were married for 59 years, living in Cleveland, Brunswick, and Mentor, Ohio.
Walter was faithful to the Lord, assisting at Grace Church of Mentor. He enjoyed his retirement in Calhoun County, WV, working hard and keeping a beautiful yard.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister Shirley Moore.
He is survived by one daughter Linda Kris (Ken) and son Roger L. McCormick (Ramona); granddaughter Julie Anne Kriz Fassett (Jason); grandson Jacob Alan Kriz; two great-grandsons Daniel James Fassett and Ethan Matthew Fassett; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV, on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 12pm, with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating.
