The National Weather Service of Charleston issued a Flood watch at 5:01 a.m. today for Calhoun County as well as multiple other counties in West Virginia and Kentucky. The flood watch will remain in effect through Sunday evening. Residents near water are advised to be aware of the possibility of flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall. The weather outlook further stated that the excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, urban, low-lying, poor drainage, and other flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks, and there may even be rises on main stem rivers. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions by calling the toll-free spotter hotline, or by other methods detailed at www.weather.gov/rlx/reports.
