Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced a Friday that a total of $10,953,774 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), to support various projects throughout West Virginia.
Westbrook Health Services is licensed by the State of West Virginia and serves the Mid-Ohio Valley including Calhoun, Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Tyler, Wirt and Wood counties.
Westbrook Health Services is a comprehensive behavioral healthcare facility, offering a wide range of services and treatment options provided through the agency including: Mental Health Intensive Services, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities, Youth Services, Outpatient, Crisis and other Medical Services.

• $3,483,954 in HHS funding to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) (Charleston) to support Ryan White Part B Supplemental.
• $2,858,964 in HHS research funding for WVU (Morgantown) to support the IDeA State Consortium for a Clinical Research Resource Center, specifically the “Increasing Clinical Trials in IDeA States through Communication of Opportunities, Effective Marketing, and Workforce Development” program.
• 750,000 in HHS funding for Westbrook Health Services, Inc. (Parkersburg) to support substance abuse and mental health services.
• $700,000 in HHS funding for Marshall University (Huntington) to support a nurse practitioner residency fellowship program.
• $678,000 in HHS funding for Prestera Center for Mental Health Services, Inc. (Huntington) to support substance abuse and mental health services.
• $635,349 in HHS funding for Cabin Creek Health Systems, Inc. (Charleston) to support a nurse practitioner residency fellowship program.
• $444,000 in HHS funding Marshall University (Huntington) to support oral diseases and disorders research.
• $416,959 in ARC funding to Mountain State Educational Services Cooperative (Dunbar) to support local workforce development.
• $390,000 in NSF research funding through the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) for WVU (Morgantown) to support research that will create new methods to study the structures of biological macromolecules such as proteins.
• $312,774 in continued NSF funding to Concord University (Athens) to support environmental research.
• $198,774 in NSF research funding for WVU (Morgantown) to support advanced brain research.
• $60,000 from HHS’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention in grant funding for Morgan County Partnership, Inc. (Berkeley Springs, W.Va.) to support Morgan County Partnership’s “Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking” program.
• $25,000 in ARC funding for The Wild Ramp, Tri-State Local Foods, Inc. (Huntington) to support local famers and consumers.
