National Pie Day on January 23rd celebrates one of the Nations’ favorite desserts. No matter how you slice it, pie in just about any form makes a crowd happy. Fruit pies, berry pies, cream pies – they are mouthwatering servings of homemade goodness.
According to the WV Division of Agriculture, if you’re baking an apple pie, the experts say go for Granny Smith, Jonagold or Pink Lady apples. They make the best pies. Stay away from Fuji (too juicy) and McIntosh (too mushy).
According to the “National Day Calendar” website, Apple pie still tops the list of US favorites. If you have a favorite recipe you’d like to share, (not just pie, but any food) feel free to send those into Ridgeview News, and maybe a picture of the finished result and I’d be happy to share them anytime. I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only interested reader of home cooked foods!
