As Crafters get their wares ready for the 2nd annual Christmas Market at the Calhoun County Community Center, Santa’s Construction Crew and helpers are in full Christmas Market mode. The 1982 Foundation Volunteers are turning the old gymnasium into a Christmas memory that won’t be forgotten by the children of Calhoun with a vision from Crystal Mersh. Crystal, who is often Santa’s idea girl, put her team to work this week to create not just a toy give away but an experience. The Friday night event will not be rushed this year as children take their turn at the toy store with elves on hand.
Those waiting for their turn to shop will have the opportunity to play at the Wayne Underwood field and get their pictures taken at a Nativity on the Stage with costumes and live animals too. Jolly Old Saint Nick (Santa Claus) will be there too for photos and perhaps to add a few requests to the list for December 25th!
In addition to the Christmas Market will be free soup, hot cocoa and s’mores by the Christmas tree and shelter following the parade.
