Local Volunteers take care of Fire Calls on the North, South and in Between

Shortly after midnight on Sunday morning a 17 year old rolled a truck into Little Creek on the the Calhoun Side of Creston, West Virginia. Suffering only a few minor injuries he made his way to a Creston home as the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department came on scene to flag traffic. West Fall’s wrecker service was called to remove the vehicle from the creek but because of the difficult location of the truck, requested Rick Mason’s wrecker service of Elizabeth to assist.

Around 5:45 p.m. Sunday evening the Upper West Fork Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a roadside hay bale fire about a 1/2 mile south of Stinson. Also responding was the West Virginia State Police. Picture by AC Tanner.

Not long after the West Fork Fire, Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a box fire on Main Street in Grantsville at the Dollar General Store. The “unexplained” fire was very near the building as the boxes which were stacked in moveable bins on the sidewalk.
