Prosecuting Attorney Nigel Jeffries filed a complaint in the Magistrate Court of Calhoun County on May 10th, 2023 stating that JONATHAN PAUL HANLEY on April 21, 2023, in the County of Calhoun, State of West Virginia, did knowingly, unlawfully, and feloniously fail to provide a change of required information pursuant to Chapter 15, Article 12 of the West Virginia Code, to-wit: JONATHAN PAUL HANLEY failed to provide or update the West Virginia State Police with information related to his employment as required by West Virginia Code §$ 15-12-2(d)(2) and 15-12-3, and the said JONATHAN PAUL HANLEY is required to register as a sex offender for the duration of his life by virtue of a prior conviction in 2013 out of Taylor County, West Virginia, in violation of West Virginia Code § 15-12-8(c), a felony, against the peace and dignity of the State of West Virginia.
I further state that this complaint is based on the following facts:
On or about April 7, 2023, Jonathan Paul Hanley left his place of employment ni Gilmer County. Said employer verified Jonathan Paul Hanley’s start date and his end date of
employment, in writing, on May 10, 2023. Jonathan Paul Hanley knowingly failed to update the West Virginia State Police as required by § 15-12-2(d)(2) and 15-12-3 within ten (10) business days of any changes in his employment status. Jonathan Paul Handley is required to provide or update information related to his employment status for the duration of his life by virtue of a prior criminal conviction in 2013 out of Taylor County, West Virginia. Jonathan Paul Hanley is required to register or update this information with the West Virginia State Police detachment in Calhoun County, West Virginia.
Hanley is currently being held at the WV Central Regional Jail on Domestic Battery Charges for which he was arrested on April 28, 2023 in Gilmer County with at $15,000 bond.
