Creston News

Spring like weather continues in Creston with lots of spring flowers.  Mary Shaw’s pink magnolia and Pat Shaw’s pink magnolia were both spectacular and down in the Mineral Wells section and along I-77 south the ornamental pears are impressive.  The himultiflora rose and other invasive species are out in leaf.  Red buds, where not cut down by the highway folks “to protect the surface of the highways” are coming out in bloom.

On April 6 there will be a Meet the Candidates gathering at the Senior Center in Elizabeth.  The meeting is free and there will be “finger foods” and refreshments.  Also there will be a pie auction.  Perhaps one can purchase a cream pie and place it in the face of a politician.  The gala event starts at 2 P. M.  All are welcome.

It seems to be a big thing where some folks decide to “be someone else” and in “woke” places one must use the “correct pronouns”.  Well now Creston is with the program too.  Seems an outdoor bunny rabbit who held a basket of eggs was getting rather shabby.  His straw hat and bib overalls were beyond repair.  Now “she” came back with a bow and a colorful dress to welcome folks at the door.

Naomi Toler had another flat tire on Friday.  She noted that she did not purchase her tires from Oscar Meyer but she did note that the Calhoun crew was working on the Richardsonville road and, it would seem, that some very sharp rock was added.  The Calhoun crew had been busy cutting down trees so the sun could shine on US33/119 near Arnoldsburg –  yes and the moon is made of green cheese.

It was learned that the governor now owes over $3.5 million in sales tax collected at the Greenbrier Hotel and not transmitted to the W. Va. State Tax Department.  Let’s see someone else try that stunt and see how far one can get.  Also, the employees of Justice’s Grandview resort at Beckley were advised that there would be new management of that facility after the primary election.  Justice hopes to be able to become US Senator and then, along with Larry Puccio, manage the Manchin business venture there and get rich so he can pay off his bills (said to be more that $1 billion).  Speaking of things down in the lower Potomac swamps, the new US Supreme, Mrs. K. Jackson, has made it very clear that she is unhappy that there is a First Amendment right.  She is the one who could not define a woman.

Folks are working up ground and some potatoes are now in the ground.

As a result of a lawsuit the FDA had to take down all the stuff they said [in obvious error (lies)] about ivermectin so as to promote the dubious value vaccines so $billions could be made by “the right people”.  As a result of a FOIA ,the CDC  released a 142 page document concerning problems with the vaccines.  Every word on all 142 pages was redacted.  “We are here from the government and we want to help you.”

Inflation has put the whammy on most folks although some try to spin it as being of no impact.  A local fellow had to mail in a postcard for an appliance warranty and learned that what used to be a penny post card now cost 58 cents.  Ice cream cones are now just under $4 and so it goes.  Gasoline took almost a 50 cents/gallon increase which would be $21/bbl. jump.  Pennsylvania grade crude is noted for its lubrication value as motor oil and as a raw material for such things as cosmetics.

Jeremy Carl Ferrell was calling on Alvin Ferrell.

The Big Eared One who most feel is actually running the clown show at the White House apparently was concerned that the front men were not doing the best they could so he went on a tour talking directly to world leaders.  He has always been a fan of Iran which, no doubt, is why the US government has turned against our ally Israel.

One has until the end of the month to make application to be a delegate to the national convention in Milwaukee July 15 – 18.  The form is available from WVGOP.ORG.

While the price of gasoline took a jump [in some places] of almost $21/bbl. the price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dipped to $79.63/bbl. with condensate, formerly called Appalachian light sweet, fetched just $61/63/bbl.  Marcellus & Utica light brought $70.63 and medium $79.63/bbl.  The Henry Hub price for natural gas was $1.68/MMBTU.
