On Saturday June 1 there will be a flea market at the Creston Community Building. Come and look for the good deals or rent a table and sell all the stuff you bought and now no longer want. The kitchen will also be open for those who like to eat!!
The bridge inspection folks were looking again at the problems with the bridge across the Little Kanawha at Creston. In other highway news both the Wirt & Calhoun crews mowed the berms on W. Va. 5 to Creston before Decoration Day. The Wirt County crew patched some of the potholes on the Ann’s Run road but did not address the wallows.
The Calhoun crew applied copious volumes of herbicide on W. Va. 5 from Creston all the way to the Gilmer County line. Instead of buying the chemical by the barrel it must have been purchased by the tank car lot. After all the taxpayers need to provide for the vendors and the salesmen. Also the Sycamore road got a super dose while some wonder why would there be any need to spray that road at all.
The ambulance was called when Gary Dickens got hurt. Seems, according to Donnie Nutter, that they were trying to start a four wheeler by pulling it but something went wrong. Seems the chariot flipped putting Gary between the road and the machine.
Some poor fellow had his red car hit by Bambi and the vehicle set for some time at the Creston park & ride.

Some local folks interacted with old Brer Bar over on the Munday road.
Some local folks were traveling out west to the national parks. They drove from Yosemite to Yellowstone. When they got close there was a mixture of rain & snow and the next morning there was 3 inches of the white stuff. They drove to the Yellowstone gate only to be told that the park was closed until they could find someone to plow the snow – didn’t know when that would be. This doesn’t make the news as it torpedoes the “global warming” hoax. Frustrated the folks drove to see Pike’s Peak only to find the facility closed because of snow. They gave up and came back to Creston.
The election problem saga continues in Wirt County. There will be recounts on Thursday May 30 starting at 8 A. M. at the Court House on Court Square in Elizabeth. It was said that cameras were not allowed but such is a public event. It was said that the Secretary of State’s office will also be present. The voting machines were bought using federal dollars [taxpayer funds] and either the machines or the parts were made in China. One would hope that such does not happen in the November election. Come and see local county government in action.
Some Goose Nest residents took their Mexican back hoes and dug out the inlet of the culvert taking Black Snake Run under the Richardsonville road. The problem, they found that at a prior time the upper end of the culvert had been crimped causing sticks to catch and then leaves, gravels, etc. built up causing a complete plug.
Some local folks attended the barbecue meal at the West Fork park at Arnoldsburg. It was noted that, in spite of recent heavy rains, the West Fork of the Little Kanawha River is very low.
Several local folks visited the graveyards and placed flowers on the graves of loved ones. Locally the cemeteries were immaculate. Others spent the long weekend riding motorcycles, four wheelers & side by sides.
There was a gathering at the Cedar Grove church.
In Grantsville there was the grand opening to the new swimming pool built by the 1982 Foundation. Crystal Mersch and her crew have done much to make Grantsville and Calhoun a much better place. Of course there are those who are not happy. As one may recall Moses had to deal with “murmuring”.
A 20 inch gas line is being laid from Tyler County to the power plant at Willow Island in Pleasants County. There are plans for a graphite & graphine facility along with the production of hydrogen to run the power plant that the green weenies wanted cut up for scrap to be sent off to the orient to use to make weapons for the Peoples Liberation Army.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $76.72/bbl. with condensate, formerly called Appalachian light sweet, fetching $58.72/bbl. with Marcellus & Utica light bringing $65.72 & medium $76.72/bbl. The Henry Hub price for natural gas was $2.75/MMBTU.
