The CMHS Graduating Class of 2025

Spread the love

As the 2025 Graduating Class of Calhoun Middle High School prepares to chart their course outside the gates of what is soon to be their alma mater, Ridgeview News offers this advice to each one.

Up until this point in your life, most everything about your day was planned by either a parent, or instructor. But the morning after your graduation day, (unless you’re already employed) you are officially in charge of determining what the contents of that day will hold.

These words are from my heart, especially #3, of which I am one.

  1. Call home often
  2. Don’t chase money – chase purpose
  3. Talk to and Listen to Old People
  4. Value your health
  5. When a door opens, don’t run… take it slow… it might be a basement.
  6. Find a church to call your own
  7. Try new things (especially foods)
  8. Remember how someone hurt you, and never do that to anyone else.
  9. Keep someone who made a difference in your life updated on how it’s going. They’d like to know.
  10. Make your bed every day, you’ll feel accomplished.
  11. Don’t treasure stuff – the value depreciates, and it all gathers dust. Treasure things that breathe and love.
  12. If you don’t like your job, think of it as a training ground for your dreams and look for the good in it.
  13. Leave every place you go better for you having been there.
  14. Get uncomfortable. Comfort makes you lazy.
  15. Wear where you’re from as a badge of honor, the good and bad made you who you are… strong!
  16. Life isn’t always fair, but you can be fair in how you deal with things and feel good about yourself.
  17. Don’t expect things handed to you, but when they are, always say thank you.
  18. Leave drama at the High School.
  19. Impress people with your maturity… at least until you get home at night.
  20. Always vote. It matters. You matter.

Some of those words are pretty serious… but they’re words I wish I had taken note of.

Ridgeview News wishes every graduate, especially my two grandsons and great niece, success in all you endeavor to do. God bless you and your family on this most memorable of occasions!
