Burdette Charged with Felony Shoplifting

On June 25th, 2025 Deputy C.R. Stephens was called dto Par-Mar in Arnoldsburg for a report of a shoplifting. He met with the manager of the store who advised him that a former employee, Ashley Burdette, had been coming in the store over the last three weeks, each time stealing a bottle of Crown Royal, 6 times in total. Each time the empty box would be found in the trash can of the liquor room. The manager repositioned the camera in that room to catch the perpetrator which was viewed by Deputy Stephens. The video showed Burdette coming into the store on June 20th, 2025 at approximately 6:26 p.m. , going to the Crown Royal shelf and then putting the Crown Royal box in the trash can. Burdette shortly after leaves the store. Another video was shown to the officer showing Burdette coming into the store on June 24th, 2025 at approximately 10:53 p.m., going to the Crown Royal shelf, then to the liquor room trash can and once again throwing the box away. Burdette can also be seen on camera shoving the Crown Royal bottle down herpants. Burdette then walks gingerly through the store and checks out paying for a pack of cigarettes, but not the bottle of liquor.

The manager provided Deputy C.R. Stephens a receipt showing each bottle costing $35.59 before taxes.
A check of Burdette’s criminal history shows a conviction of shoplifting in Roane County case # M44M-1000689176 on
3/1/2013 and a conviction of shoplifting 2nd offense in Roane County case # M44M-1001800225 on 8/23/2013.
Deputy Stephens requested and received a warrant on Burdette for the felony offense of shoplifting 3rd offense (2 counts) and 1 count of possession of a controlled substance.

She is currently being held in the WV Central Regional Jail with bond set at $15,000. Ashley Burdette is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
