On Wednesday May 4, dozens of first responders lined the highway along Interstate-79 from Kanawha to Braxton County to honor fallen firefighter, John Forbush. The 24 year old member of the Gassaway Volunteer Fire Department, died on Sunday attempting to save the life of a mother and child who’s vehicle had plunged into the Elk River . The firefighter left the Charleston Mortuary around 9 a.m. to be returned home to Braxton County. His funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
